Frankie's First Holy Communion!

I took a few photos of soon after her First Holy Communion but she was squinting in most of them. What is this bright light in the sky?!?!
I looked at the forecast and it was supposed to be cloudy the next day- Sunday. So I planned on taking better pictures then. Plus there wouldn't be an insane line for Father Todd. 69 kids!!!
He encouraged all the kids to wear their First Communion dresses and suits to mass the next day so it seemed a good chance. I didn't do her hair on Sunday.

Saturday, on the way to mass, I was all fretful because I forgot to get a veil and I hadn't done her hair. It was wet and we were late and she was just going to have to deal with a comb through and drip dry. We had practiced a braided swirl ending in a bun. No time for that.
And Chris, as he drove along the lake says, "I think you are more concerned about being judged than about her hair- she is fine!"
He was so right! I constantly worry that people look at my kids and say "oh poor kid, her mom doesn't have time to wipe their nose/change their shirt/braid their hair"
Because the truth is- I don't!
When Chris becomes Catholic- everyone watch out! He's going to be awesome. He cut right to the core of it and then said , "she will be more focused on what is important because she doesn't have all the veil, gloves, new stuff to deal with".
But we got to the church in record time since it was a lazy Saturday morning with no traffic! And we ducked into the bathroom and I spun her hair up in some braided rope type twirls that met at her neck.
But like I said- Sunday (and all of May really) was/is about survival. Chris is home for 7 days altogether this month. 4 of them being Memorial Day weekend. I dropped him at the airport Sunday before mass so no time for braid again.
But she don't need that!
She's beautiful!
I photoshopped a photo of her- you can see Jesus in her!
