Little prayers of motherhood inspired by the mundane

When your teenager leaves her lamp on every morning-
"Lord, make sure your light is always shining in her soul"

When you step on a Lego-
"Lord, pierce my children's little hearts with your love"

When you iron your husband's shirts-
"Lord, smooth his ways and make straight his paths"

When you grocery shop-
"Lord, nourish our souls with your presence"

When you wipe faces-
"Lord, cleanse our hearts. Make of us a pure offering."

When your teen leaves the gas tank empty-
"Lord, give us the graces we need to finish the race"

When toddlers take ALL the books off the shelf for the tenth time that day-
"Lord, let my kids remember to turn to you with a contrite heart when
they stumble"

When you can't find a pair of socks that match because someone tossed
your sock drawer upside down then proceeded to unmatch all of your
socks and hide them in obscure places throughout the house-
"Lord, let me children not try to match themselves to others, but let
them compare themselves to themselves as a measure."

When your kids complain about having to eat chicken "everyday for two months!"-
"Thank you Lord, for the food on our table"

When you find the can opener behind the toilet tank-
"Things don't always make sense, Lord- but you have the masterplan and
I trust you."

When you feel like bedtime will never get here-
"All I need is energy for now, Lord. We can talk about later...later"
