we were out in front of the house about half an hour ago. mary jane had her tricycle on the sidewalk and george was around the side of the house working on building what else? a fort. the day was sunny and just a little chilly. frances was snuggled close and sound asleep. i decided to check on the mailbox. i was thinking about how i was going to approach the problem of a spider in the mailbox when i car came around the corner. i turned to watch mary jane and make sure she was staying well away from the street when not 15 more than 15 yards on the other side of mary jane leaped 5 medium to large white tailed deer. they materialized from our neighbor's long vacant house's backyard and crossed the street heading to the woods that lay behind the houses that lay across the street from us. the car i was trying to keep mary jane safe from stopped and watched their crossing with us. their hooves made tappy thud type noises on the asphalt. george came around the side of the house on a sprint.
"did you see that?" i yelled over to him.
it was such a treat, but scary at the same time. those things were so big compared to may jay. she just stood there. i half expected to see a dark spot start to form somewhere on her pants. but true as a two year old she just started jumping and squealing.

Wow! I am quite certain that if I had seen that many beasties cross that close to my kids, there would have been a puddle in the street where I was standing!! LOL It's amazing that they came through like that. I'm sure it was a sight to behold!
wow! when we were walking out of Mass last sunday we saw 4 deer in the field next to the church. they were so beautiful.
