My first 5k!!(Max's too)

We "ran with the fishes" yesterday to celebrate salmon spawning season.
Max ran a 27:45 and I ran a 28:23.
I didn't stop my running app at the end of the race but based on the graphs it looks like I ran a 8:30-8:45 min/mile pace. I walked during two portions of the race, which was super flat course!
I've been using zenlabs couch to 5k app and I was on week7day1 of the 8 week ramp up. So I knew I'd walk for a little bit of it.
Max ran with me until he saw Fr Todd pass us. Father Todd is pictured here with his lab, Agnes. She jumped 17 and 18 feet in the dock dogs competition for Salmon Days. He said other dogs were jumping 25 feet! So Max took off after Fr Todd and kept up with him for a bit then came back to run with me at about 1.5 mile. Then on the last mile I told him "pass 10 people all told before the finish". He took off.
At one point- during that last mile- I began to get tired and feel a little self pity. I'm old. My legs won't get in front of me like they did at the start. This part of the course had us running next to but opposite direction of the beginning leg. Next to us to the right was the lane that was the early portion of the run and it was empty because all of the racers were at the turn or beyond it. Except for one team. They wore all black shirts with white letters "stay positive". In the middle of the team was their leader. A disabled man pushing a walker. And I was immediately inspired and gave them a cheer. But the second I passed them I thought of Father Joe and team Patient Endurance and how he couldn't walk with them in the Winship race. And I lifted my chest. I leaned forward. And I ran harder. With gratitude I ran. Grateful for Fr. Joe's spirit. Grateful for his resolve and his perseverance.
After I crossed the line I saw Max sitting there and he said "45".
I was too confused to understand what 45 meant in my current state. But then as I was getting my chip cut off he said "I passed 45 people".
We found Fr Todd and few of the parishioners gathered in the Top Pot parking lot. FT ran just under 25 min.
The graph shows how I forgot to turn it off until about a minute or two after the race.
