Random today
I need to get handcuffs for the stove. I cannot count the times the kids begin to cook something and walk out of the room and forget they are cooking something and leave it to burn.
And earlier I asked the kids to do their daily chore- folding clothes. I asked kind of matter of factly- "ok, it's time to go fold clothes" they sat there. I asked again. Nothing. I finally said in a louder more exaggerated tone "GO downstairs and fold or I will sit on you!!!" It's my go-to threat. It makes them laugh and gets their attention and they move.
But this time as they were going downstairs Samantha said "you don't have to be rude, mom."
I think their definition of rude is not right. She tends to throw that word around loosely. I say her rudar is screwy.
It's kind of like how her friends misuse the term "racist". Merely pointing out that someone is black is considered racist by high schoolers out here. You have to beat around the bush and describe someone by all their less obvious attributes or else you are racist.
John is actually truly racest though. He told me today as he zoomed past the stroller on his bike. We were coming home from trader joe's and he said "mom, I'm the racest boy in the whole world!!!"
