once upon a time...
on a lovely friday in late september, our homeschool co-op met at a church- we will not name.
all the children happily met with their teachers and classmates in the parish life center. they innocently went their separate ways towards their classrooms downstairs- the classrooms that are, in the morning, used by the church's preschool and mothers' morning out children.
mj and frankie headed to their kindergarten/1st grade room. george and mother headed to the third grade classroom- excited about a lesson all about electricity. samantha and max headed to join their friends who were making costumes and sets for the play. henry took john to the nursery where they played with a group of co-op toddlers. the toys in the nursery were so colorful, attractive, and fun! john played rapturously for close to an hour when a lady came into the room.
she was the lady in charge of the church nursery.
"the church preschool nursery children are having some trouble with hand foot and mouth disease. we have five children down with it now. oh, and by the way, i haven't gotten around to wiping down these lovely and attractive toys yet."
aaaaaand they all lived grumpily and feverishly between 3-6 days after.
