yours truly! i called the office yesterday to see how my swab went
last thursday and was given such GREAT information!
at the prior visit i was told that since my urine tested positive at
16 weeks(never mind that it tested negative at 30 or 31 weeks) that
the hospital would still treat me as positive per the CDC suggested
protocol. and since that was the case i didn't have to get swabbed
for gbs at my next visit.
i politely asked for the gbs swab anyway - because if i am going to
fight dumb arbitrary protocols i need to be better informed.
and now i am. and i am happy.
why?
this means that there will be no stress if my waters break and labor
doesn't swiftly follow(like frankie's birth).
this also means that i don't have to go galloping down to the hospital
the second i detect active labor so that i can receive the all-
important anti-biotics(2 doses every four hours).
so now i am free to labor at home until i deem it necessary to have
chris haul me to the hospital.
so to celebrate i broke my anti-gbs diet last night and had some
halloween candy. one almond joy and three york peppermint patties.
but today i am back on the diet- to insure that come baby's birthday-
i am colonized with nothing but the beneficial guys.
so- will someone please come pick up the leftover candy? i will go
CRAZY walking past it all day.
