new trampoline game

the kids are constantly makeing new games to play on the trampoline.
the recent out of season cool weather has brought them outside for the
majority of the day creating games once again.
this one doesn't have a name and has in the course of three days
undergone many minor facelifts.
yesterday it was similar to a "knock out" soccer drill. each kid
dribbles a ball and tries to steal balls from other kids while
maintaining possession of their own ball.
this morning's rendition is like dodgeball mixed with the above
drill. i don't know if i have this straight- max was telling me just
now. so people are dribbling in circles. there is a person who is
"it"- although sometimes there are two that are "it". the "it" people
throw balls at the dribbling people and try to trip them. if the
center "it" people successfully trip the outer dribblers, then the
center team gets a point.
i remember when we got the new trampoline for Christmas. it replaced
our old trampoline of five years that the kids jumped into the
ground. the old trampoline had no screen. and I remember at
Christmas telling chris how they were going to miss the old trampoline
with no net- and all the games they created- dodgeball and ultimate
longhorn, and zombie-zombie. but he assured me that they would create
new games involving the net.
and what do you know?
i guess the only thing i hate about the net is it's false sense of
security. frankie fell off the trampoline once when we didn't have a
net. she has fallen off no less than 5 times since we've had the net-
because she is too short to reach the zipper and close herself in.
each of those safety net falls has been WAY more scary and hurtful to
her than when she fell off without the net. what can i say? we are
safetying our children to death.
