unplanned flower

this flower came up without our foresight and careful lansdscape
planning. it sprouted on the edge of our patio- no doubt offspring of
the birdfeeder dangling above it.
it wasn't in our plans- yet the joy it brings is true and deep, a
different kind of joy than if we had carefully plotted out the perfect
place with just the right amount of sun, planted a seed, and watered
it with tender loving care. this flower is valid. it is just as
beautiful as a planned flower and give the world the same amount of
sunshine and joy. being unplanned doesn't detract from it's beauty.
nobody who drives by knows that it was unplanned, they admire the
simple beauty regardless. the insects that pollinate it don't know
it's unplanned. yet- the polln works just as well.
instead of being afraid of the unplanned or afraid of things beyond
our control we should just sit back and revel at the divine
orchestration of it all. our pride can take a back seat while we
watch the work of someone with a terribly broad scope- much broader
than ours. and just trust- trust that the same power that makes sure
the lillies of the field are dressed and the birds of the meadow are
fed- takes care of us, who are more precious to Him than all the flora
and fauna.
i have to quote father jack here- "i am just preaching to myself".
and i needed that:-)
