first tri pictures

max- right before his wave got into position.



the kids found uncle mike- on the left in the suit with blue shoulders and a yellow/red splash down the center. he was escorting his nephew, joseph, on his first triathlon.




samantha standing in purple. max up to his neck next to her- the water was pretty cool i imagine- it was 8:30 am. their swim was 1/4 mile.



samantha- out of the water(3rd in her age group on the swim- with a time of 8 min 40 sec.)



max- out of the water (time 9:14)




max and samantha's final bike stretch-. ALL of the other kids had bikes with gears. samantha, max, and joseph didn't. i am so proud of how they perservered! samantha's time on the bike was 53:24. max's time was 52:26. they stayed together most of the time. max even stopped to pick up samantha's water bottle when she dropped it. the bike portion was 10 miles.

mike and joseph turned around FAST in the transition. they came out before samantha and max! they are starting their 2 mile run around the lake.

after christina finished her wave she came back and ran with the kids- finishing with max. what a great aunt.

and max's total time was 1:34:00
i am SO proud of them. this pregnant mama kept tearing up at some portions. i think the self-worth they walked away with is priceless. they already can't wait for their next tri. max woke up the next morning and went for a 9 mile bike ride! we are looking at a few triathlons to finish out the summer. i think we may do one more, this time with henry joining the fun. and we are looking on craig's list for bikes with gears.


mariana hung out with me in my old baby carrier. it was nice to bond with her for a bit while mike and christina played. she is such an easy going baby- and so cute:)
