We are here! What an ordeal yesterday was. Traffic in the holland tunnel and then on the brooklyn - queens express way forced chris onto a later flight. As time ticked on i became more and more worried that we would miss mass. I discovered my purse missing when we dropped chris off at the airport. We are thinking that i left it somewhere in maryland. We made it to the monestary at about five til five. A nice father of soon to be eight led the way to a polish church with a six thirty mass. After mass we headed back to the monestary for our second meal of the day and much needed water and rest, but not before meeting with sister and mother. Mother is great. She is shorter than sister and has a round ever smiling face, and is from the dominican republic. the guest house is big. it was nicely appointed with ample sleeping space, a fan in each room, and PLENTY of food. the nuns are going to cook for us all week, which i think is nice becuase it's either i cook or we go out. having someone else cook and not having to go out is a vacation all on it's own.
the pool that the sisters had put out for us. nice and refreshing. the kids splashed so much that by the end of the week it was reduced to a mere puddle.
the homespun barbed wire (dominican republic style) on the walls of the enclosure.
broken glass and cement.
