throughout the day he shared some interesting things of his months away in iraq. over breakfast he told us that they have a blimp fitted with a digital camera for recon. the locals think that they can control the weather with it. the army also has night vision goggles. the locals think that they can see through EVERYTHING with it- kind of like superman. after breakfast we headed home to mom and dad's. as he settled into the wicker hanging chair in the porch mom told us it was 10:45. "it would be about 105 degrees by now," he said. earlier he told us that it's so hot, withint the past two months the forces over in iraq have consumed 10.7 million dollars of gatorade. he also shared a story about saying mass on a pretzel stand with some interesting people in attendence.
i keep thinking about those soldiers who return home to people who don't fully support them. people who aren't as adoring as a pack of neices and nephews. i'm so thankful that God has blessed Fr. Kevin with the humilty, resilience, and hope needed to make the jump across the great divide look so effortless. i'm sure there are soldiers returning who aren't as whole- whether physical or emotional. and i keep them in my prayers.
he's updated his blog so be sure to go check that out.
