so there, hannah montana!

samantha is sooooo in love with the guitar. she plays everyday for at least 30 minutes without me having to even remind her. she wants to know how many hours are left until the next lesson. she listens to "classical gas", "man of constant sorrow", and "leyenda" in the car. she talks about frets, harmonics, and chords. and today she saw her first glimpse of pure talent. her teacher showed her a youtube clip of tommy emmanuel in concert. after mass, on the way out to dinner she was telling the boys how he was "crazy good" and "he is ridiculous". i asked her if she wanted me to make her a tommy emmanuel t-shirt so she could wear it to school. she said yes. maybe i'll make her a tommy emmanuel backpack and lunchbox to go with it. perhaps some tommy emmanuel socks are in order, followed by tommy folders and notepads.
i'm smiling as i type this because i know my daughter knows what good music sounds like when she hears it.

Awesome!! I'd rather listen to someone belch the alphabet than to have to listen to any of the current "pop" music - ick! Your daughter clearly has excellent taste! For the record, my kids snicker and roll their eyes when we walk past the Disney store or the one of the gazillion clothing racks with Hannah Montana stuff, but they often can peg a Stevie Wonder, Jim Croce or Frank Sinatra, etc. song within the first few notes.

Being unique is a great thing...!
