letter's to st. nicholas

the kids just finished emailing st. nicholas. it's fun to see what they ask for. the tradition in our family is everyone gets three gifts from st. nicholas signifying the three gifts baby Jesus received from the wise men.you can email st. nicholas and get an immediate response here. it's pretty neat actually.
this isn't the way we do things normally. traditionally the kids make their lists on the eve of the feast of st. nicholas. then they put the list in their shoes. when they wake up on st. nicholas day(which is today!) their shoes have treats in them. usually an orange and some chocolate and a small toy- a car, a pencil- etc.
well, last night we knew we had to make lists but in all the bustle of after dinner and getting to bed, no one remembered. so the email thing had to be done. how tragically technological, i know.
so here's the rundown.
henry wants a webkinz penguin, a bike, and a hydrogen remote control car (???)
samantha wants a pocket knife, some clay, and to be a saint(not right now though)
max wants a pocket knife, a safety kit, and to be a saint
george wants a fake gun, a hotwheels police car, and a stuffed dolphin toy
mary jane's list was made by samantha. she wants a bouncy ball, a notebook, and a baby doll(more dolls? i'm sure if mary jane was a reader of mother theresa she would say, "mommy- there is no such thing as too many dolls, that's like saying there's too many flowers.")
frances' list was made by henry, samantha, max and mommy. she would like a baby bjorn potty(guess who put that one in? the kids all giggled wildly "what's santa going to say about that?"), a rattle like this one on ETSY, and another baby toy(possibly this one)

he doesn't want a kind looking gun. just a gun. i found a great one on etsy. it shoots the pompoms you get at craft stores. it also shoots marshmallows. we don't have anything against guns at our house. hunting is in the family. i personally think it's the most humane way to get meat into your diet...but i'll step off my soapbox now. ;o)
